Thermal Transfer Ribbon for Printing Static Cling Oil Sticker

Oil sticker is widely used by car shops as a can't miss reminder to acquire repeat customers for oil change service. Once the car shop completes a oil-change job, they would give the customer a sticker with the "Next Oil Change" date printed to reminder the customers to come back for oil change when the time is due.  This oil sticker is made with vinyl material with pre-printed information such as business name, logo, address etc.  But the due date is printed onsite.  The vinyl label wil be put through a thermal transfer printer so that the "Next Oil Change" due date can be printed.

Depending on what material the oil change sticker is made of, different thermal transfer ribbon needs to be selected. 

If the label material is made with paper, for example coated or uncoated label stock, wax ribbon can be used to print the due date information.   Since the sticker is going to stay  on the windshield for around 3 month.  We recommend you use the resin-enhanced wax thermal transfer ribbon to ensure the print stay legible during long period of time.  

However it is actually pretty rare that the oil change sticker label is made with paper.  Usually the oil sticker label is "static cling" made with vinyl material.  Static cling allows the printed oil sticker to be held in place on the car's windshield with "static" only.  Because of the print media is smooth vinyl, ribbon made of wax won't work for this type of application because wax ribbon print can be easily rubbed off or smeared.  A full resin ribbon would deliver smear-free, clean and clear print image.
